Update on my mom...

Ok, on the Saturday after Thanksgiving we drove up to see my mom. She was still in ICU from her surgery the previous Wednesday. She didn't look too bad! She was really surprised to see us. And surprised at how much Patrick has grown since she last saw him. So we stayed for about an hour and then turned for home. I found out that they did surgery but not a colostomy. This is a good thing. I can't see an 89 year old woman having to worry about a colostomy bag...ya know?

Anyway, my sister found a nursing home for our mom that's about 10 minutes from her house. This is the best thing for Nan (that's what we call her...after years of grandchildren calling her Nana...I'm sure you get it). She'll have people around her all the time now instead of just sitting in her apartment all by herself. She still isn't getting up out of bed but I'm sure that will change next week. She just got there on Friday. All in all I think she'll be just fine where she is. (I already checked out the nursing home on line and it is rated pretty good...thank goodness!)

Anyway, we're trying to get the house ready for Hanukkah which starts on Tuesday night. Presents!!!! Whoo hooo!!!! And then our holiday party after that.

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

In November ms_rave and I robbed a bank (-50 points). Last Sunday I stole giselle0002's purse (-30 points). In July I gave polygyny a wet willie, then I took it back (-5 points). Last Wednesday I pulled over and changed widowspeak's flat tire (15 points). In March I caught a purse-snatcher who stole moondorah's purse (30 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-40 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

Dave called me at work today to tell me that my younger sister called me to say that my mom has been in the hospital now for about a week! Why didn't she call me sooner? She couldn't find my phone number....yeah right.

Well my mom (who is 89) found out she has colon cancer and they're going to operate on her tomorrow morning. I don't have any time to take the day off from work so we can't get up to see her until Friday. This just sucks. A big one too.

Sigh....sometimes being 3 - 4 hours away from your parents really just sucks.

I had a really good weekend. Amanda, John and Chrissy from NC came up to stay as they were merchanting at Holiday Faire. Got to see friends from the EK at Holiday Faire also!!

The lunch tavern went well. We sold out of just about everything!!! My German Chocolate cake went in a flash....lucky I kept some for at home..yum!!!

Now I'm just tired, my feet hurt and I don't wanna go back to work tomorrow...wha!!!
